MI Pathways 2 and 3 are Merging

In order to simplify the process for agency hosted Motivational Interviewing (MI) training, the Pathway 3 option will merge with Pathway 2 starting January 16, 2026. As of that date, Pathway 2 will be for Minnesota child welfare agencies who want to host, or who have hosted, their own MI training with a MINT member or a Training Academy approved MI trainer. This merge aims to streamline the documentation and skills demonstration process for learners. Learn more about this change on the Training Academy website.

RFP to Implement and Expand Prevention Services

The Minnesota Department of Children, Youth, and Families (DCYF) seeks proposals from qualified community-based organizations, county, and Tribal child welfare organizations to implement or expand a prevention service to prevent child welfare involvement and/or to avoid out-of-home placement of children. These services will support the goals of Minnesota’s Family First Prevention Services Act (FFPSA) Five-year Prevention Plan, which is aimed at preventing children from entering foster care. Review the full FFPSA Prevention Service Request for Proposal here: RFP to Implement and Expand Prevention Services. A Responders Conference will take place on December 17 from 1:30-2:30 p.m. Register here. Please email questions to: Miquela.Hernandez@state.mn.us.

Qualified Individual Training (CWTA X400)
Training is available to prepare clinicians and community members to become Qualified Individuals (QIs). The next offering of QI Training will be February 11-12. QIs determine whether or not a child’s/youth’s needs can be met within their family or family foster home with community services rather than being placed in a child care institution, known as a Qualified Residential Treatment Program (QRTP). If you have questions or want to express your interest in participating, email ffpsa.qualifiedindividual.dcyf@state.mn.us.
