Multidisciplinary Training: Considerations for Emergency Child Removals

In the absence of a court order, law enforcement holds the sole statutory authority to remove children from their home in emergency situations (§260C.175). This training provides information to deepen law enforcement’s understanding of their statutory authority to remove children in emergency situations. The webinar is focused primarily on law enforcement practice, but is open to professionals that are currently working with an active child protection multidisciplinary team in Minnesota or tribal nations. Two virtual offerings are currently available. Register through Zoom using the following links:

Qualified Individual Training (CWTA X400)
Training is available to prepare clinicians and community members to become Qualified Individuals (QIs). The next offering of QI Training will be June 3-4 . QIs determine whether or not a child’s/youth’s needs can be met within their family or family foster home with community services rather than being placed in a child care institution, known as a Qualified Residential Treatment Program (QRTP). If you have questions or want to express your interest in participating, email ffpsa.qualifiedindividual.dcyf@state.mn.us.

Advanced Use of Effective Supervision Strategies: A Practice Lab for Supervisors

The Center for Advanced Studies in Child Welfare (CASCW) is hosting this no-cost workshop, which provides an opportunity for supervisors working in child welfare to strengthen their use of effective supervision strategies that improve the resilience of supervisees, strengthen the supervisory relationship, and improve interactions between supervisees and youth and families. Registration is required.

Spring 2026 CW360° - Immigration and Child Welfare

This recent publication from CASCW addresses one of the most pressing and deeply human challenges facing child welfare today: supporting immigrant and refugee children, youth, and families as they navigate systems shifting beneath them. It provides a broad and timely examination of the current sociopolitical landscape and the complex ways immigration status influences the lives of families, unaccompanied minors, and transition-age youth. Digital access can be found here, along with access to previous issues of CW360°.
