QIs determine whether or not a child’s/youth’s needs can be met within their family or family foster home with community services rather than being placed in a child care institution, known as a Qualified Residential Treatment Program (QRTP). If you have questions or want to express your interest in participating, email ffpsa.qualifiedindividual.dhs@state.mn.us.

Foster Parent Pre-Service Training

Cohort 22 Starts on August 22

Foster Parent Pre-Service Training for resource parents includes four virtual, weekly meetings from 6:00-8:00 p.m., which are supplemented by self-paced modules to be completed before each meeting. Licensors should visit our website to learn more about this Foster Parent training option, see all upcoming cohorts, and to get connected with Foster Parent College.

The Practice Space Podcast

The Center for Advanced Studies in Child Welfare has shared a new podcast that invites us to meet at the intersection of meditation and social work to explore ideas and skills that will help to support us in our professional practice. Child welfare professionals in particular can benefit from these conversations which offer space for reflection on practice and impact of the work on both mind and body. Across six engaging episodes, the podcast will discuss a myriad of topics and meditation skills that can help us all to better manage the complexity and impact of interpersonal interactions in our professional and personal lives.
