Supervisor Coaching Pilot Learners Needed

The Training Academy is working to schedule pilot training for the soon-to-launch Supervisor Coaching. If you are interested in being part of the pilot and want to be contacted when registration opens, contact the Academy at info@mnchildwelfaretraining.com.

Understanding the MAAFPCWDA Requirement
With regard to the Minnesota African American Family Preservation and Child Welfare Disproportionality Act (MAAFPCWDA), there has been some confusion about the training requirement. During Summer 2026, the Training Academy will launch a new Cultural Responsiveness training that will be required of all Minnesota agency child protection workers and supervisors. The Active Efforts Training: Family Preservation and the MAAFPCWDA Framework (CWTA X221) training that is currently offered is an optional course for county staff but is recommended in preparation for MAAFPCWDA rollout. It does not replace the required cultural responsiveness training launching this summer. If you have questions, contact us.

Title IV-E Scholars New Worker Foundation Offering
This summer the Training Academy is planning an offering of New Worker Foundations for BSW and MSW Title IV-E Scholars (those graduating Spring 2026) who plan to work for county HHS agencies in Greater Minnesota. Training will be virtual (including simulations) between June 10 - September 10. Questions? Contact Melissa Mendez at mamendez@umn.edu.

Qualified Individual Training (CWTA X400)
Training is available to prepare clinicians and community members to become Qualified Individuals (QIs). The next offering of QI Training will be April 13-14 . If you have questions or want to express your interest in participating, email ffpsa.qualifiedindividual.dcyf@state.mn.us.

The self-paced course is available in the Cultural Responsiveness in Child Welfare (CR X100) online modules group and is called Working with Refugees and Newcomers to Minnesota. The course is designed to help child welfare workers better understand refugee and immigrant experiences, immigration pathways, and practical strategies for support. It offers one CEU.
