Foundations Training Launching This Fall

Agency Supervisors:

This September we are launching New Worker Foundations Training as an entirely new course for all incoming child protection workers. To help keep you informed of this and other changes to New Worker Training, we are hosting several statewide meetings.

The presentations should only last 20-30 minutes, followed by time for questions and answers. Please register for one of the following virtual meetings:

New Worker Foundations is required of all Minnesota child protection workers, and must be completed during the first six months of employment. New Worker Foundations is part of New Worker Training, which includes New Worker Orientation (launched in December 2023). Additional New Worker Training courses (Essentials, Specialty, and Coaching) are currently being developed and will be discussed at the meetings.

If you are unable to join us for one of these meetings, we will share a recording on our website later in May. Additional meetings will take place in July with greater details.

Our plan is to pilot this training in September 2024 with new workers starting around that time. The following Cohorts are available with the current Foundations curriculum:

Cohort 122 | May 1 - July 11 | Marshall (new dates for this cohort)

Cohort 124 | June 4 - September 12 | Owatonna

Cohort 125 | July 25 - September 12 | Roseville

Cohort 126 | August 6 - October 10 | Duluth

Cohort 127 | September 17 - November 14 | Roseville

Continue to use the New Worker Checklist for Supervisors. It will be updated in September to ensure a smooth transition to the new process.
